Admissions

Admission to the Structural Biology Training Program is administered through the Sackler Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences at New York University. The application is done online. Admission to the NYU/NIH Graduate Partnership Program requires that a separate application ALSO be submitted to the NIH . Only US citizens or permanent residents are eligible for the NIH/NYU Partnership program, though international students are welcome to apply to the Sackler Open Program. The Sackler Institute offers the Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D./Ph.D.) as another path to obtaining a Ph.D.

Applications are screened by a committee of faculty members in structural biology and suitable candidates invited to NYU for interviews during January and February. The interview visit lasts a day and a half and includes meetings with the Program Directors as well as interviews with four faculty members from the program. In addition, there are opportunities to meet current graduate students in both scientific and social contexts, to tour the Medical Center campus and student housing, and to sample cultural events in New York City. Competitive candidates for the Graduate Partnership Program will also be invited to visit the NIH and to interview with their faculty.
