Welcome to the DNA Sequencing Facility

Joel G. Belasco, Ph.D., Director
Diana Ruixi Yang, Manager
Berrin Baysa, Research Technician

The DNA Sequencing Facility of the Skirball Institute provides sequencing services to about 200 labs and hundreds of scientists in the NYU community. As a core facility, the sequencing lab provides state-of-the-art equipment and expertise, which would be impractical for most individual labs to maintain. The facility utilizes ABI BigDye Terminators cycle sequencing on a ABI 3730XL instrument capable of sequencing >850 nucleotides per sequencing. The ABI machine and BigDye Terminator chemistry allows for increased speed, capacity, and ability to meet the complex needs of difficult DNA templates sequencing over the traditional sequencing method.

We are located in the Skirball Institute Third Floor, Lab One (212-263-5743). Samples submitted before 2:30pm have roughly 85% chance of getting back results next day morning (Friday's submission ready on Saturday morning). Each sequence costs $13.50.
