Hello

Instrument

This facility maintains a Becton-Dickinson FACS Vantage equipped with:

dual Argon and Spectrum lasers

detectors for 7 parameters (5 colors)

automated cell deposition unit

biohazard containment unit

Fluorescent Dyes

Our instrument is capable of detecting these dyes, which are excited using broad band UV, or 488nm, 530nm, 563nm, and 647nm lines. These can be used singly, or in appropriate combinations:

AMCA ; FITC ; Cy3 ; TRITC ; Texas Red ; Cy5

PE ; PE-Texas Red ; PE-Cy5

PerCP

APC ; APC-Cy7

Hoechst ; DAPI ; PI ; 7AAD

INDO-1

SNARF

Measurements

5 color fluorescence phenotyping

DNA quantitation (non-invasive)

DNA quantitation and phenotyping

Apoptosis

Ca mobilization

Intracellular pH

Endocytosis

Special Applications

All conventional FACS applications for specimens containing infectious agents

Analysis of cellular functions within heterogeneous subsets

High speed analysis and sorting of rare cells (5,000 events/sec)

Autocloning

Other Services

Cell preparation and labeling

Custom conjugation of fluorophores to proteins or nucleic acids

In situ hybridization

Acquisition of fluorescent probes from commercial suppliers

Rates

$100 per hour, NYUMC researchers

$115 per hour, other researchers

$ 40 per hour, qualified hands-on users

We charge an additional hour for sterilizing/decontaminating the instrument, and an additional 1/2 hour for changing the excitation wavelength.

We offer bulk discounts on large FACS projects.
