Moving Files

An internet "drop folder" is available to individuals wishing to upload large files (images, presentations, videos, etc.) to the NYU School of Medicine network. Files which are dropped into this directory from off-campus locations may only be retrieved from within the campus itself.

This facility is offered as a courtesy only; New York University makes no representations as to the security or privacy of any images, documents or other files uploaded using this facility.

DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY TO TRANSPORT FILES OF A SENSITIVE NATURE. DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY TO TRANSPORT FILES CONTAINING PATIENT-IDENTIFIERS.

All files placed within this facilty are subject to immediate removal or alteration without notice.

Using "drop folder" is a two-step process:

1. (From an OFF campus location):

Upload files by clicking on this link.  A new window will open into which you may drag files to be transfered. Files will disappear within 5 minutes. This is normal.

NOTE:
Windows users MUST use Internet Explorer (version 5.x ONLY).
Macintosh users MUST use Netscape (version 4.x ONLY).

2. (From an ON campus location):

Download files by clicking on this link to open a new window from which the transfered files may be copied to a desktop computer.
Either right-click (Windows) or click-and-hold (Macintosh) each file to be copied.

If this sounds like gibberish to you, or to obtain additional information, see the pages dealing with specific operations and software at the Media Services or email media_services@saturn.med.nyu.edu.
