Trouble Shooting: Fluctuating Current

When X-RAY panel shows a reading of 20kV 10mA, but you hear clicking noise from the machine and the FILAMENT CURRENT meter's needle keeps swing back-and-forth, you have a bad filament.* Change the filament.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* This happens when the filament has already been burned when the machine is down, but you somehow didn't know (too bad) and went ahead trying to power-up the system. Under normal circumestances, burned filament will turn on the VC alarm and stop x-ray generation.
