Troubleshooting

Polish the Anode

1. Follow Steps 1 through 4 in the procedure for changing belt.

2. Undo the four screws that mount the anode assembly onto the x-ray tube.

3. Carefully take out the whole anode assembly from the x-ray tube.

4. Mount the assembly on the rack on one of the work benches in the lab and wind the belt around the associated motor's pulley. The distance from the motor to the mounting rack has been pre-adjusted.

5. Turn on the motor and use a fine house cleaning pad to polish the anode. NEVER let the motor spin too long (less than 20 seconds) - always stop for a while and then start again. Turning the motor to long may overheat and damage the anode.

6. Continue until all marks on anode drum are gone.

7. Use a piece of dry cloth fine polish the drum further.

8. Dismount the assembly and thoroughly clean the part that will go into the x-ray tube. Make sure no cupper powder on any spot. Also, wear a glove when doing this.

9. Remount the anode on x-ray tube. Don't forget checking O-rings!!!
