Procedure of Collimator Adjustment
Usually,
the collimator is mounted on the outside of the mirror box firmly. Little
adjustment is needed. However, sometimes when you can't get the beam intensity
you wanted and you have eliminated all other possible reasons, it's time
to consider adjusting the collimator. There are three places you can work
on to adjust the collimator, they are A, B and C.
Behind A, there is a vernier that could shift the whole assembly horizontally.
Behind B, there is another vernier that can move the assembly vertically.
The two screws at C can be adjusted to level the collimator.
Follow the preparation steps for beam aligment,
then adjust A, B, and C while you watching PDA-18 readings. Do these carefully
until you get the maximum reading on PDA-18.
Just
to remind you that you need this x-ray pinometer and make sure you fit its
"mouth" with the "mouth" of the collimator.
