Trouble Shooting: Beam too weak

When you are getting a very low reading on PDA-18, such as less than 3 mA on a 1 (the switch on the right) x 4 (the SCALE) scale, or you get a direct beam reading less than 60,000, the beam is considered to be too weak. First try beam alignment again. If that doesn't solve the problem, check

1. Collimator problem

2. Mirror problem

In some rare cases, you are getting high readings on PDA-18 but low on actuall direct beam recorded on image plate. This means that you might have a problem with the R-AXIS readout system, particularly problem with the photomultiplier tube.
