Maintaining water quality

Usually, every half year or so the chill water should be changed. Use NYUMC's house water (distilted) only - ion-free water is not recommended. To change the water, open the front panel and you'll see a distinctive soft hose clamped on a terminal. Take off the hose and drain the water in the tank. Then clean the tank using fresh water. Next, fill up the tank and let water go through the whole circulation line for about 15 minutes. Change water again.

Very importantly, every time when you change the water, you should either replace or thoroughly clean the strainer clamped to the end of the only hose in the tank. In fact, this strainer should be checked from time to time and changed or cleaned when its surface has too much dirt.
