Setting up Entourage 2004 for OSX as IMAP client to check your Saturn email - page 3 of 3
Updated on October 20th, 2006 - a major and confusing error on page 3 (SSL settings) was corrected, so if you've printed this page out for reference prior to this date please re-print it
This is the third and final page of Entourage IMAP configuration instructions. It requires all steps form page1 and page 2.
Control-click or right-click on your Skirball account and chose New Folder.
Name the new folder sent-mail.
Repeat this for postponed-messages and trash. Make sure they're named exactly as shown and they they're all subscribed to. No spaces!
If we have enabled spam filtering for you you will see a folder there called Garbage. If not please let us know and we will enable it. This is where messages suspected to be spam will be placed. You will need to subscribe to it as well in order to be able to periodically examine the contents and check for false positives. More info on spam filtering is here.
Now got to Tools menu, chose Accounts and double click on your account name to access its settings. You're back in the Account settings window. Click on the Advanced button.
In this step you will have to tell Entourage where to upload your sent messages, your drafts and where to move your junkmail and your trashed messages.
sent-mail is used to store your sent emails postponed-messages is used to store your drafts Garbage is used for junkmail trash is used to store your deleted emails
The reason for these names is that they're the folders that IMP uses so this way your Entourage will be in sync with webmail.
Follow the screenshots below to select appropriate folders.
Click the menu next to Store sent messages in this IMAP folder... Select Choose, a new window will pop up allowing you to select a folder.
Chose sent-mail... and click the Choose button.
Now click the menu next to Store drafts in this IMAP folder...
... and select postponed-messages, click the Choose button...
You can do the same for Store junk e-mail in this IMAP folder option by choosing the Garbage folder. But you may as well uncheck that option, as Saturn mail server will do the filtering and you will disable Entourage's own built-in spam filtering. Read on...
Select to Move messages to the "Deleted Items" folder rather than marking them for deletion which is kind of distracting: you will see deleted emails still in your inbox. This option will move them to the trash folder and you can empty it later.
One of the the last yet still crucial settings: click on the Account Settings button. Click on the Click here for advanced receiving options button in the Receivingmail section...
Make sure you're clicking the correct button! Do not click the Click here for advanced sending options button below!
And check the This IMAP requires secure connection. More info on SSL is here.
Do not enable SSL for outgoing mail server (sending email) or you won't be able to send mail! Do not change anything under the Click here for advanced sending options button.
Now, you should disable Entourage's built-in spam filtering feature. It's not as good as Spam Assassin, it has much higher rate of false-positives, and there is no need for it if we do spam filtering for you. Go to Tools, chose Junk E-mail Protection...
