How to install Key Access Client for Mac OS9 Skirball site-licensed software requires that a KeyAccess client is installed on a computer and that your computer is logged in to the Key Server all the time. Follow these instructions to install the Key Access client on your Macintosh. You only have to log in once after you install the KeyAccess. Every time your computer is restarted it will log in automatically . First, save all your documents and quit all programs. This procedure will require you to restart your Macintosh! NOTE: These instructions are for Skirball Institute users only. You can follow them in general but unless you're physically located in the Skirball Institute, floors 2 through 5 the Key Server address specified in these instructions will not work for you. You need to enter a different Key Server address as noted! Also, SoM Key Server web page is located here. Click here to download the Key Access installer for Mac OS 9.x to your hard drive. This is an installer application. Double click on it to run it. When the installer application starts up you will see a window as shown on the right. Enter the server address: keyserver.skb.med.nyu.edu for the Skirball KeyServer or keyserver.med.nyu.edu for SoM server and click OK. Once the installation is done it will prompt you to restart your computer. After your Mac restarts you should be good to go. Try to open a keyed application to see if it works. NOTE: This is all you need to do to install and configure the KeyAccess software. You don't need to follow the instructions below if everything works properly at this point, that is you can open Skirball keyed applications. Double check the server address to make sure you typed it correctly: dots, not commas and no spaces! The instructions below are for situations when you have installed the KeyAccess extension manually or if you need to re-login to the KeyServer. How to login manually to the KeyServer Open the Chooser and click on the Key Access icon, then click on the Configure button. In the next window click on the IP Host checkbox which will bring up another window with a text box. In the text box type the IP address of the Key Server which is: 10.160.132.10 or: keyserver.skb.med.nyu.edu NOTE: Make sure that there is no dot at the end! Then click the OK button. As mentioned above, this is Skirball Institute Key Server only! if you are located somewhere else in the SoM you must enter keyserver.med.nyu.edu - without the "skb" part or it will not work! The checkbox should b checked now and display the IP address next to it. If it doesn't then start over. If it does then click on the little Log On button.
