How to install Key Access Client for Mac OSX
Skirball site-licensed software requires that a KeyAccess client is installed on a computer and that your computer is logged in to the Key Server all the time.

Follow these instructions to install the KeyAccess client on your Macintosh. You only have to log in once after you install the KeyAccess client. Every time your computer is restarted it will log in automatically.

First, save all your documents and quit all programs. This procedure will require you to restart your Macintosh!

NOTE: These instructions are for Skirball Institute users only. You can follow them in general but unless you're physically located in the Skirball Institute, floors 2 through 5 the Key Server address specified in these instructions will not work for you. You need to enter a different Key Server address as noted for SoM! Also, SoM Key Server web page with instructions and links to SoM keyed software is located here.

Click here to download the Key Access for OSX to your hard drive and follow the instructions below.
If you use Safari it'll download the K2Client.dmg - it's a disk image - and automatically mount it on your desktop as a disk. If not, double click the K2Client.dmg file to mount it - as seen on the screen shot on the right.
Inside the disk image you will find the K2Client.mpkg KeyAccess client installer. Double click it to launch the installer.
In the next window your system partition (startup disk) needs to be selected. Normally, the installer selects your startup disk by default so you don't need to change anything at this stage. Click Continue.
Click the Upgrade button. It may also say Install depending on how old your version of KeyAccess was.
In the Authenticate window type your MacOSX username and password. You must have administrator right to install the software.

In the KeyServer Address windows type keyserver.skb.med.nyu.edu

NOTE:
Double check spelling and make sure that there is no dot or empty space at the end and that you have entered dots NOT commas! It won't work uncloses it's entered exactly as shown!
To complete the installation you need to restart your Mac. Click Restart to restart your Mac.
You can change your KeyServer at any time if you need to do so. Go to your System Preferences(in the Apple menu) and click the KeyAccess control panel.

Please not that this is new in the version 6.x of KeyAccess. In the older version it used to be a standalone program in your Applications folder.
You can enter a different address as well as change few some other options here. The options are quite self explanatory. Make sure to click the Logon button after changing the KeyServer address!

A message will notify you that you are logged in to another KeyServer. If the message says that you can not be logged in it may mean that the target KeyServer is down, full or have some additional restrictions, .i.e. may not allow clients from your location
