Enabling AppleTalk under Mac OSX
Apple Talk is by default disabled in Mac OSX but it's very easy to turn it on. It will enable you to look up computers and printers on the Apple Talk network as you were able to do using the Chooser in Mac OS9.
Go to the Apple Menu in the upper left corner of your screen and open System Preferences.
When System Preferences windows opens click on the Network icon to access the networking options.
Make sure that Built-in Ethernet is selected from the Show drop-down menu and that the Apple Talk tab is selected so the window should look something like the picture on the right. However, the picture shows you the final configuration

Click the make AppleTalk Active checkbox to enable AppleTalk. Then click the Apply Now button in the bottom right corner. Wait a minute while AppleTalk is being enabled. Once it's on it will automatically select the AppleTalk zone you're in as show in the picture on the right. Close the window to finish.
To connect to other computers go to the Go menu in the Finder - to go back to the Finder click on its icon on your dock - and select Connect to Server or simply type Command (Apple) K.

This procedure is nearly identical to connecting to Saturn over IP as described on this page. You should get familiar with that procedure since the second part is exactly the same as using AppleTalk.
The window that opens next is the OSX equivalent of the OS9 Chooser. In the left part you see the Apple Talk zones. Unfortunately due to the size of the window the names may be truncated. Because OSX can also connect to Windows computers you may see some Windows workgroups there as well. In the right you will see the list of available computers in the zone selected on the right. Click a computer name to select it and click the Connect button.

From now on the procedure is identical to connecting to Saturn over IP so you can follow those instructions from here up.

You can't connect this way to computers in zones that are not listed on the left. In these cases you need to use the host IP address or name and connect over IP rather than Apple Talk just like you need to do to connect to Saturn.
