How to find the version of your Operating System
When you contact us for help we usually want to know what the version of your operating system is. You will need to know how to find that out then.
Instructions
Mac OS 8.x and 9.x

Click on the rightmost menu on your menubar where all active programs are listed and select Finder. Now, go the left top corner where the little Apple icon is and click on that icon and select "About This Computer" or "About This Macintosh" whichever you see. An "About This Computer" window will open and you will be able to see the version of the Mac OS. See the screenshot on the right.

Mac OSX

Click on the blue Apple icon in the left top corner and select "About This Mac". A small window will open showing a version of the system and the size of installed memory, which is also useful. See the screenshot on the right.
Windows 98, 2000, XP

Right click on My Computer and select Properties from the menu. A window will open that looks like the on e on the right. You can see the version of Windows, any updates and the amount of installed memory as well.
