Interests

My general interest is the development of the nervous system; how neural structures are assembled from progenitors to ultimately achieve functional behavior of an organism. In my present work I aim to apply advanced mouse genetics in combination with electrophysiology to address the assembly of networks in the mammalian cortex. With the classification system recently proposed by the lab, my goal is to analyze connectivity on the level of different interneuron subtypes. Novel techniques allow us to address and understand the principles behind integration of neurons on a population level and will hopefully prove instrumental towards treating diseases of the brain.
