Discussion paper:

As you read through these, please consider the key problem concerning the nature of the translocation channel; the controversy is alluded to in the introduction and discussion of the two papers. For our discussion Friday, please focus on how the crystal structure of the protein conduction channel (Van den Berg, et al., 2004) helped the authors design and interpret the study described in the second paper (Cannon, et al., 2005).
