Professor Kehsin Kuo passed away in Beijing at 22:45 on December 13, 2006. The main causes were lung and heart failures. Professor Kuo's daughter and son-in-law were present at the hospital. The funeral was held in Beijing on Sunday, December 17. Close to four hundred people came to pay final respect to Professor Kuo.

-- Professor Renhui Wang of Wuhan University passed away on November 12, 2008, after long battle with illness. He was 71. Professor Wang was a well-known physicist and a beloved teacher. He will be missed by my. A foundation in memory of Professor Wang has been set up.
-- Organized by Professor Lianmao Peng, a special session in memory of Prof. Kuo was held during the 9th Asian-Pacific Microscopy Conference (APMC9), Jeju, Korea, November, 2008 (see http://www.apmc9.or.kr/).
-- The book “Ke Hsin Kuo Memorial Collection,” edited by the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences is being published: cover of hardcopy, cover of paperback, first page and table of contents (Courtesy of Xiaofeng Duan).
-- Sponsored by the International Union of Crystallography, "The First K. H. Kuo Summer School of Electron Microscopy and Crystallography: Beijing Workshop of Cryo-Electron Microscopy in Structural Biology” was held in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, July 14 - 16, 2008 (see Workshop web site). Ninety-six people from seven countries attended the summer school.
-- On March 31, 2008, Xiaodong Zou received the Göran Gustafsson Prize for chemistry from the Swedish Academy of Sciences. This is the biggest prize by the Academy (4.6 million kronor per person), next only to the Nobel Prize (9 million, but to be shared by 1, 2 or 3 persons). Of the prize sum 0.1 million kronor is for private use and 4.5 million for research. The prize was presented to Xiaodong by the Swedish king, and after the dinner party she and her husband Sven had a 5 minutes chat with the king and queen.
-- A special session in memory of Prof. Kuo was held at the 10th Quasicrystal Jubilee Conference, Israel, October, 2007. Speakers included Profs. Knut Urban, Ning Wang and Eiji Abe (http://www.danknassim.co.il/quasicrystals07). An essay written by Ning Wang on what happened at the meeting can be found here.
-- The 2006 K. H. Kuo Prize was awarded to Dr. Jianghua Chen.
-- The 2004 K. H. Kuo Prizes were awarded to Dr. Chunlin Jia and Mr. Jun Luo.
-- Beijing Symposium of Electron Microscopy was held in Beijing, August 21-23, 2003, in honor of Prof. Kehsin Kuo’s 80th birthday.
