Admissions

All students are admitted to the Open Program of the Sackler Institute of Graudate Biomedical Sciences at New York University. Applications are completed online. These applications are due in December each year. In addition to our program in Macromolecular Structure & Mechanism, the Sackler Institute acts as a gateway to 11 other Ph.D. training programs and offers the Medical Scientist Training Program (M.D./Ph.D.) as another path to obtaining a Ph.D.

Applications are screened by a committee of faculty members in structural biology and suitable candidates invited to NYU for interviews during January and February. The interview visit lasts from Thursday afternoon to Friday evening and includes meetings with the Program Directors as well as interviews with four faculty members from the program. In addition, there are opportunities to meet current graduate students in both scientific and social contexts, to tour the Medical Center campus and student housing, and to sample cultural events in New York City. The Sackler Institute conducts rolling admissions, so if all goes well, you can hope to receive your offer for admission soon after your interview date.
